Toddler Gift Guide

IMG_4333It’s official…the countdown is on!

It’s time to deck the halls, spread Christmas cheer and get our holiday on! How wonderful is Christmas spent with little ones, there’s just something so magical about little people, christmas trees and all things that sparkle at this time of year. It’s a time to make memories and cherish time with loved ones, I love it and feel super excited to experience Christmas with my 2 year old this year.

Wooden Toy Bike

I’ve put together a list of contemporary, modern and traditional unisex toys for toddlers of all personalities and for parents of all budgets. The following have all been tried and tested by my little one and needless to say have been a huge hit in our home. The best part is these toys are investments, I already can’t wait to pass on to baby sister in years to come. Oh and the other really, really great part…shop all these favourites online, here’s to Christmas shopping in my festive Pjs, from the comfort of my sofa…because life with a toddler is tiring enough, right! Seriously though, what a nice feeling knowing not only will your little ones love these toys on Christmas Day, they will love them for years to come.

Balance Bike
For The Little Outdoor Adventurer

I love, love, love everything about this vintage style Balance Bike by Banwood. Toddlers crave independence and this Balance bike creates a sense of achievement from such a young age, it’s also a great way to introduce them to cycling. The front wicker basket is adorable and allows little ones to pack the essentials for a big day of adventure. This is an investment piece to pass down from generation to generation and check out the other colours available, such a pretty gift, (adult size please)!

The Little Traveller

Meet the New JetKids RideOn by Stokke the premium ride-on suitcase for little explorers. Okay so technically not a toy but what a fab gift for little travel lovers. It has the perfect capacity to fill with toddler travel must haves like toys, blankets and snacks. It comes with creative stickers to allow the kids to spell out their names or add their favourite stickers to the case, it’s a fun and fashionable way to travel. When needed the RideOn can be upgraded to a BedBox®, perfect for those little explorers travelling by plane, train or ferry, oh and how beautiful are the pastel colours, this shade is the Green Aurora.

GrandPa Whale
Snuggle Time

Meet GrandPa Whale, available in two sizes this beautifully made soft toy will be a favourite for years to come and as an added bonus he also looks fantastic around the house, (for those who follow along on IG, you’ll know I’m a sucker for a good photo prop, this guy is exactly that)! My little one loves this cuddly toy, snuggle time never looked so good.

Plush Rocker
 The Family Heirloom

Looking for something a little bit luxury this Christmas, let me introduce this gorgeous Lamb Rocker by Pottery Barn Kids. Firstly, I couldn’t contain my excitement when I discovered Pottery Barn Kids where launching in the UK earlier this year, it’s one of my favourite places to shop all things nursery/ kids room and for very good reason.  The ethos behind Pottery Barn Kids is that a child’s rooms should be every bit as beautiful, stylish and personal as grown-up spaces, after all, they’re setting the stage for some of life’s most precious moments, from walking to talking. This Rocker which can be personalised, is as soft as a lamb’s coat, it’s huggable body and sweetly embroidered features are adorable. It’s a timeless piece, perfect for both boys and girls. I’ve found this is great for Alf’s age and will most definitely be passed on to baby sister in years to come, I think it looks stunning in any room in our home.

Imaginative Play

Play is a child’s way of engaging and making sense of the world, I like to encourage imaginative play with whatever is happening in our world. Role play may appear to be a very simple activity, yet within it, young children learn so much. With baby 2 due soon this little Doctors Set has helped me introduce ‘visiting the doctor’ to my little one, he’s even taken it along to my midwifery appointments. Likewise with the Mixer Set, he loves to be in the kitchen whenever I am. He’ll ‘cook’ whilst I am cooking, such a great way of encouraging everyday tasks around the house. Needless to say, Kids Concept does wooden toys the right way, sustainable wood, super quality and incredibly adorable designs, these two pieces are just a few of my favourites from stockist Scandiborn.

Train Set and Table
Playroom Goals

If your lucky enough to have space for a playroom at home, this Kidkraft Adventure Town Railway Set is playroom goals. Now I have to admit, at first glance when I saw ‘120 piece set’ I freaked a little! My thoughts where hours of setting up followed by hours of tidying up, jeez I’m so glad I was wrong. With its innovative folding design, this wooden play table can be assembled in under a minute and with two collapsible storage bins tucked under the table it is super convenient to cleanup. The fun accessories made of wood and plastic inspire my little conductor to play here for hours.

Girls Toys / Boys Toys

Intentionally I’ve made this  Toddler Gift Guide gender neutral, aren’t all toys unisex! Both little boys and little girls will have endless hours of fun with these carefully selected pieces, however I am often asked for recommendations for boys gifts. If you are on the look out for something that leans more towards girl or boy, I recommend the wooden toy collection from Pottery Barn Kids. The stunning Westport Dolls House (for little princesses) or the Construction Crane and Dump Truck (for little princes) are huge hits in our home. I am amazed at the detail and quality of these toys, my little boy is vehicle obsessed but equally loves the little figures that take home in the Dolls House. In a house full of boys or girls or a mix or both, one thing for sure, these beautifully crafted, well-made, interactive wooden toys deliver years of happy, productive play and will most defiantly be around for years to come.

Festive Pyjamas

Now it wouldn’t be Christmas without a pair of festive PJ’s. This year I love the Frugi Festive Pyjama collection. Made from organic cotton, these super soft, beautifully designed Pjs can be personalised and gift wrapped to make a lovely Christmas present. Did I mention they have a ‘Babies First Christmas‘ collection too, I wonder if our newest little bundle will be here fro Christmas, obviously I’ve stocked up just incase!

So there we have it, a gift guide made up of well designed, timeless, investment pieces, all tried and tested and very much loved in our home. I hope whatever Father Christmas brings this year you and your little ones have a very merry fun filled Christmas.

All my love,
