Schools out for summer and what a summer we’ve already had. The UK is basking in glorious sunshine, yes yes yes, even here in sunny Scotland we can proudly say we’ve had our fair share of picnics in the park and fun afternoons in the garden, it’s been bliss.
However fellow parents, lets face it, summer with little people can be a thought. Restless babies and grumpy toddlers in the mid day sun, preparation is absolutely key. I’ve picked up a few bits and bobs over the past few weeks that I’m calling my summer 18′ home or away essentials. My top picks, 5 must have buys that have made this summer with a toddler one to remember.
Sunnylife Kids Pool Crabby
This summer we were fortunate to escape the back yard for an adventurous week in Morocco, it was an experience to say the least. Spoiled in our own villa with private pool, a first for us as we tend to be drawn more to hotels, was such a fun treat. Having our own pool was the perfect time to feed my Sunnylife Australia obsession, (I’m a sucker for an insta worthy prop on any occasion), so we stocked up on some floats and headed to our pool where we spent most of our days. The product I have to rave about the most is the SunnyLife Kids Pool Crabby . This kids paddling pool, part of the new SunnyKids Range, has a soft inflatable floor for extreme comfort and a hood to keep the little ones shaded. It takes only minutes to blow up and an added bonus that it doesn’t take long to fill at all. Now this is the fun part, we used this as a float in the pool however this is actually a paddling pool, you can imagine the excitement on my little ones face when he saw this go from pool to back yard, he was amazed. Since returning from our holiday this paddling pool has been a feature in our back garden alongside our other Sunnylife goodies, the kids range really does cover all that is needed for some family fun in the sun.
Worth while noting that this product is recommended for 3+ however c’mon, I don’t recommend leaving tiny people unattended at any age, by that I mean I’m more than comfortable purchasing this for my 1 year old. In pool or the garden, he wouldn’t be on his own around water at any point. So go on, bring the pool to the back garden for an insta worthy summer to remember.
GroBag Sleep Bags
Jeez how I wish I had discovered these products sooner. These Lightweave Grobags made from 100% cotton are as soft as muslin however they cleverly manage to retain their shape. These 1 tog sleep bags are perfect for summer snoozing, keeping little ones cool and ventilated throughout nap time. Here’s the fancy part, Grobag are the creators of the only sleep bags to boast bug bearing protection which means the Insect Shield Grobag has a built in mosquito net for a safer sleep on holiday. The built in protection somehow manages to stay in the fabric and not on babies skin, mind blown… mines is! Now I have no idea how but as an over cautious Mama that really does make me happy. These are a must for holidaying abroad this summer, lush soft fabric and cool summer prints, prefect for summer nights in the crib or if your one of those extra lucky parents whose toddler still naps, perfect for that afternoon snooze fest, (now go grab an ice cold drink before he wakes).
Amazon Desk Fan
Now I am aware there are stroller specific fans available on the market, I’ve tried a few and quite frankly (the ones which I’ve tried) they do not compare to this Anglink Desk Fan from Amazon. The clip is sturdy enough to attached to stroller hood, play tent, parasol… whenever need be, it’s a strong durable clip. I love that the fan is powerful but not quite a jet engine about to take off, it’s almost silent. This one comes in a choice of white or black and is rechargeable, at under £20 it’s a bargain if you ask me.
Sweet Treats From Judes
Sweet treats for the sweetest of babas. At 21 months I’ve started to relax a little over the treats I offer my little one. The thing is, the more I’ve relaxed (because sometimes anything for an easy life), the more he’s become a bit of a fuss, typical! I was delighted when the lovely people from Judes got in touch to tell me about their family run ice cream treats, (it felt like they had read my mind as I wandered aimlessly around the supermarket). Judes are the family behind the delicious ice cream brand who have recently launched their new kids range which have been a huge hit in our home over the summer. New on the menu are these refreshing new Milk Lollies, made from 100% naturally sourced ingredients, 30% less sugar than competitors, (I considered naming but I’ll let you guys check out who on the Judes website) and they also contain less sugar than the average kids yoghurt. I’m happy to have my little guy snack on a super tasty Milk Lolly come rain or shine! Oh and pregnancy cravings come at me, I have a freezer full, I’m ready for you.
Aden & Anais Muslin Swaddle
Never underestimate the power of a good muslin square. The breathable and durable fabric makes for a cute stoller cover on a bright sunny day, a convenient bib, handy nursing cover, the softest of comforters and (in emergencies only) a super handy cloth for spillages, although way to precious for everyday cleaning. Aden & Anais are famous for their soft and durable muslin swaddles, why not make use of the lightweight fabric long after that swaddle stage by carrying with you everywhere this summer. They have the sweetest summer prints and the cutest designs perfect for every little character. I have the Colour Pop Collection since my little one is obsessed with cars. I also think these make a great gift idea for babies of all ages. With sunny morning walks and afternoon picnics in the park, I literally wouldn’t get through a summers day without ours.
There we have it, my summer top picks for our little people. I hope you are all enjoying the sunshine and making the most of long awaited holidays. Early rises, afternoon naps, lounging by the pool, dining alfresco, evening strolls, or just a house full of over excited, hot and bothered little people! Whatever this summer has to offer I hope you and your little tribe make it one to remember.
Be back with you all soon but for now, where is that desk fan, oh and I’ll pinch an ice lolly too.
