Style The Bump

In Collaboration with Isabella Oliver

Hello you lovely lot.

Can you believe how much bump has grown over the last few weeks! I’m 20 weeks in with baby number 2, I’m technically a pro at maternity fashion by now, right?  Well, not exactly, first time round I was a completely different shape, size, not to mention a different mindset and also it was two years ago, c’mon I was way younger back then! With my first born, I fell in love with my pregnant body , I embraced bump and every opportunity to show it off. I stayed relatively petit with the cutest bump and a gorgeous glowing complexion, ugh even I’m annoyed at how well it went! Okay so take two and this time as much as I’m equally in love with my baby bump, I’m swollen, way bigger, more an off grey than pretty glow and life is just so very very different. A home to run, demanding job, ever growing blog and oh yeah, an over active toddler to chase after. I’m a girl who lives in black skinny jeans, it’s my comfort zone. This time I’m going more comfort than cute without having to invest in a whole new maternity wardrobe.

For anyone thats ever been pregnant, maternity shopping can be a challenge. Over night you have this whole new ever growing and ever changing body to adapt to. Do you conceal with floaty dresses and loose tee’s, or reveal with body con slips and fitted camis. I remember feeling like I was living out a suitcase, my first piece of advice would be to place aside your everyday clothes that already feel snug. Save time and energy, avoid fighting your way through the wardrobe for something that still fits. Before doing so have a good rummage for bump friendly pieces, you’ll be surprised how many things will work well into the second trimester.

First time round, my beautiful and very stylish friend, introduced me to maternity brand Isabella Oliver and I’m so thankful she did. I invested in a few maternity essentials back then and this time, since I’ve been showing from around week 8, I’m really loving styling my bump.

I’m excited to share my top 4 pieces from the Isabella Oliver collection,  must have items that will grow with you and bump throughout pregnancy and beyond.

The Classic

A classic crisp white shirt…with a twist. I love the tie waist detail on this Kelly Maternity Shirt which can be tied to the front to emphasise bump, or tied loosely draped at the back. Pair with black skinny jeans for an office to evening look. I’m also only 5’2 which has allowed me to wear this as a shirt dress throughout the summer months, paired with cute sandals, it’s a clean classic look throughout pregnancy and beyond.

The Everyday Dress

The Ruched T-shirt Dress, my new home. I’ve been living in this dress lately. A huge bonus for me is the ruched detail around the bump allowing the dress to be adjusted to a chosen length. As mentioned I’m pretty short so finding a ‘just right’ dress length is almost impossible, this dress works wonders for any height. I love this green colour for the summer months and the tee sleeve means I can wear on its own or throw a chunky cardigan over the top to keep bump and I snug.

Ultimate Comfort

Love this Colour

The BestSeller

Who said maternity clothes had to be boring, I just love the chic star design on the Rosie Maternity Top. This relaxed feel top, which I team with leggings or skinny jeans, is made from the softest fabric which feels so nice to wear. I love that it’s a subtle statement top, it’s bold but not in your face, it’s a bestseller for very good reason.

The Must Have

If there’s one item you need this pregnancy it’s the Silvie Maternity Top. Comfort being key this pregnancy, this is my everyday top. Teamed with black leggings and flats, okay trainers, it’s my goto! This top will hug any size bump and grow with you both. Again made from premium jersey fabric it hugs but in the most flattering way. I also love that it’s long enough to cover my bottom if need be, I like a longer fitting top when wearing leggings, for me it competes the look.

Ever Growing Bump
Maternity Must Have

There you have it, ladies, these 4 well made pieces are as chic as it gets. Mixed and matched with leggings or jeans and comfortable flats, these pieces will fashionably see you through the next 9 months and beyond. For trendy and convenient outfit ideas, Isabella Oliver has a very handy Inspire Me page on their website, you ladies go check it out, it’s packed with all the bump styling essentials you’ll ever need.

Now it’s time to go embrace and celebrate, style your blossoming bump and wear proudly, you got this Mama… All my love to you and bump.
