Okay, it’s still pretty cold outside but it’s March so it’s Spring, right? I’m ready to ditch a layer or two and welcome pretty pastel tones and fresh blooms. I’m sharing what I’m loving this month in beauty and of course my favourite pieces for my little one.
I’m all for online shopping throughout those winter months however cabin fever got me last week with all that unwelcome snow. This week I teamed up with Buchanan Galleries Glasgow and went shopping for my long awaited spring essentials.
Doesn’t it feel like it has been the longest winter ever, my poor skin. Coming out of the colder months I like to change up my skin care routine. I’m trading in my fuller coverage and prepping my skin for some much needed vitamin D. My daily skincare routine goes a little like, cleanse, tone and moisturise morning and before bed, I exfoliate every other day and face mask twice weekly. My biggest focus is helping my skin appear more radiant, I’ll list those glow-getter products I picked up on my recent spree. All the products I use aim at providing a youthful, radient, fresh faced look.
I like to start the day with a refreshing cup of lemon tea and my Clarins perfect duo cleanser and toner set, this removes any build up from the night before. I then use the Clarins Daily Energizer Wake Up Boost, this smells amazing and really brightens my skin first thing. I then pop on my moisturiser and I’m good to go. For day time I use the Origins Matte Moisturiser, I’ve been using this for just over a week in replace of my Charlotte Tilbury Magic Day Cream (which I love, I just fancied a change) and I love it, it absorbs within seconds and feels like silk, it also smells lush. I repeat these steps for my night routine only I change moisturiser and use the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream at night.
Every other day I use the Bobbi Brown Radiance Boost Exfoliating Mask. This product is grainy so really does remove all dirt and impurities and leaves skin feeling softer and looking more even and healthier. It revitalises and brightens the skin and oh how I wish the was the option to attach a smell tab, you should smell this one, it’s lush. It’s a must for anyone with dull, tired looking skin.
When I really need to put my best face forward I’ll pamper my skin with the Charlotte Tilbury Goddess Skin Clay Mask…and what a treat it is! Now I’ve got to be honest, when I first discovered the Charlotte Tilbury Clay Mask, like the Magic Cream, I questioned if it was worth the price. I’ve been using this for just over a year and its worth every penny, I love it. Like is says on the tin (well on the gorgeous designed pale pink and gold tube) it leaves you with baby soft skin.
As gross as it may seem over those winter months my skin has been hiding under layers and layers of chunky knit clothes, like a snake it’s time to shed that dull, dried out skin and bring on the summer glow. My ultimate glow getter skin polisher is the Clarins Tonic Body Polisher and Tonic Body Treatment Oil. This duo is an at home spa treatment. I first discovered the range when I was pregnant with Alfie. The Tonic Body Oil had my tummy looking amazing during and after birth and since then I’ve been hooked. I use these products before bed to allow them to soak in during the night. For day I apply the multi award winning Clarins Extra Firming Body Cream all over, leaving my skin feeling satin smooth with a natural looking firmness.
If I could change one thing about me, it would be my hair. I have fine, limp hair which tends to just fall flat around my face and let me also tell you, hair loss after a baby is real. After having my little one, I lost a lot of hair, I didn’t have much to start with so as you can imagine it was tough watching it coming out in clumps. I’m 16months postpartum and my hair is slowing but showing growing back in. I’ve been using Aveda Thickening Tonic spray and my goodness what a difference it makes. It thickens hair from the root to the end for a fuller look with no build up. It’s made from all natural plant based ingredients and gives you that freshly washed feel on the second day, surely that counts as a Mum hack!
Being a Mother who gets very little sleep my skin is tired and dull. Over the winter months I go for a slighter fuller coverage with my make up. Coming into the warmer weather I like to go for a more barely there look. After my morning skin care routine I use Charlotte Tilbury Wonderglow as a base which gives an appearance of glowly youthful skin. I often wear the this just on its own or to even out my complexion I apply a thin layer of Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua which is exceptionally lightweight, it feels like a second skin. For my tired eyes I use Bobbi Brown Corrector and then I apply a layer of By Terry Touch Veloutte. And that’s me…ready to present my face to the world.
A baby in a fresh white baby grow, nothing makes me happier. For spring I’ve stocked up on gorgeous white babysuits for Alfie. I love choosing soft neutral colours, ecru, white, light grey. I like to think of his style as classic but comfortable. I’m also finding we are having more stay at home days. I once guilted myself into going out everyday when Alfie was younger, the older and more independent he becomes the more I’m okay with having days at home. For these days I picked up a little grey wrap over 2 piece, it’s just gorgeous and perfect for him. Comfort over fashion any day for my little guy. I can’t wait for the temperature to pick up a little, I have so many gorgeous new outfits to wear on my little one, I think a blog post on it’s own, there are too many gorgeous outfits I can’t wait to share with you.
So Alf and I are now ready to welcome spring with open arms, all we need is the temperature to lift a little and the lighter nights to roll in! Oh and if anymore unpredicted and unwelcome snow heads our way, you’ll find me keeping warm in Buchanan Galleries Glasgow, looking fresh faced of course.
